How to Clear and activate your Sacral Chakra

The human body contains seven primary chakras, and many minor ones.

Each of the primary chakras corresponds to an important nerve centre. It doesn’t just operate on a physical level – each chakra also influences your sense of self and wellbeing.

What is the Sacral Chakra?
The Sacral chakra, Svadhistana, is located about three inches below your navel. It has a direct influence on your creativity, relationships, emotions and sexuality. On the physical level, it also has a impact on the organs in this area including the spine, hips, reproductive organs and bladder.

It is linked to the colour orange, and water element.

Many things can affect the Sacral for both men and women. Many women carry some level of pain in their womb. They have been abused physically or emotionally, criticised for their appearance and choices, repressed; they have suffered in their flesh and heart.

Men might also have been abused or repressed in their creative and sexual expression. They might have a fear of not being able to please their partner.

Signs this Chakra Is Out of Balance
If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you may have an imbalance in the sacral chakra:

  • Pain and stiffness in your low back and hips
  •  Loss of imagination, creativity, desire and joy
  • Out of touch with emotions and closed off
  • Feeling easily overwhelmed emotionally and fear of intimacy
  •  Sexual and reproductive issues

Some efficient tools and ideas to bring back balance

  • Clear and activate your chakras with Reiki (self or book for a treatment)

  • Wear or surround yourself with the colour orange
  • Open your hips with Yoga, the “butterfly” pose is fabulous
  • Put the music on, move your hips and dance
  • Eat pumpkin, carrots, mango, oranges, peaches, apricots, sweet potatoes, pomegranate. Foods rich in Omega-3s, nuts, sesame seeds and drink Chai tea or hot dark chocolate.
  • Nurture yourself, take a soothing bath with some magnesium salt and essential oils (see recommendation below)
  • Anoint daily your Sacral area with a drop or two of Young Living Orange* and/or Ylang Ylang** essential oil, or with Harmony***blend
  • Wear or/and meditate with crystals like Carnelian, Orange Calcite, Tiger’s Eye, Orange Moonstone or Sunstone
