A Raw Treat with some magical Powers

You probably heard many times that  Cacao and Cinnamon have plenty of  health benefits and are especially well-known to enhance the mood and libido. Commonly regarded as a spice, cinnamon or cinnamon bark comes from a tree. The inner bark of these trees is used to make the beautiful ground spice we know and can also be used to create aromatic and powerful cinnamon Essential Oil.

Almonds and cashews both contain heart-healthy unsaturated fats and proteins. Almonds are also one of the best source of the essential antioxidant vitamin E and provide also calcium and vitamin B. Cashews and almonds are both good sources of iron and magnesium.

I have been enjoying playing with the New selection of Culinary Essential Oils* offered by Young Living. Whether you use the oils in food or beverages (Ginger, cinnamon or Cardamon are a fabulous addition to my tea and lemon or fennel to my glass of water!), essential oils can enhance your food and add therapeutic benefits.

Here is my latest recipe, easy to make, a perfect ‘pick me up’ full of nutrients with your morning tea and a raving success as a desert.

Base

1 cup raw almonds, 1/2 cup raw macadamias, 1/2 cup shredded coconut, 6 medjool dates seeds removed, 1 tablespoon raw cacao powder, 1 tablespoon Maca* powder, a pinch of sea salt, 1 tablespoon coconut oil.

Line a cake tin with baking paper. Place the ingredients into your food processor and blend at high speed until the mixture is completely broken down and is like a fine sticky crumb. Press the mixture firmly into the cake tin and place in the fridge or freezer for 1 hour.

Centre

Soak 1,5 cup cashews for 2 hours or overnight, strain and rinse, add 2 medjool dates, 1 tablespoon of tahini,  1 tablespoon raw honey*, 1/2 cup coconut oil and 2 drops of  Young Living Cinnamon bark Essential oil*.

Place the ingredients into your food processor and blend until smooth. Spreadand gently press the mixture over your base. Place in fridge or freezer for 1 hour.

Cacao cover

1/3 cup melted but not hot coconut oil, 2/3 melted cacao butter, 2/3 cup raw cacao, 1/3 cup (or a bit more or less following your taste) coconut nectar or Yacon syrup.

Place the ingredients into a bowl and mix until smooth and well combined. Pour the chocolate over your slice and use the back of a spoon to spread it to the edges. Place in the fridge for several hours to set.

Enjoy!

*Honey can be replaced by more dates- The cashew cream will just be darker.
